About Us
Our Mission Statement
Westsound Pickleball Community’s mission is to promote pickleball in the greater Kitsap County area; to advocate for and grow the sport of pickleball; and to facilitate access and opportunity to play for persons of all ages and abilities in a welcoming, inclusive, and healthy environment.

Our History
Westsound Pickleball Community (WPC) started like most other pickleball organizations, a group of picklers outgrowing the available community courts. In 2019, a small group of Manette players had a dream of expanding pickleball in Kitsap County and submitted an option to the Bremerton Parks Department for additional courts at Lions Park.
To date over 600 players support pickleball in Kistap County, and we have:
-
Organized as a Non-Profit Business status in August of 2022 and 501(c)3 tax exempt business license in April of 2023.
-
Partnered with the Bremerton City Parks Department and Bremerton Central Lions Club to increase the number of pickleball blended courts from 4 to 10.
-
Approached the Bremerton School District to rent space at East Bremerton Community Gym for indoor play. WPC now rents the gym for open play on 9 indoor courts during the winter/early spring months.
-
Received a grant from the City of Bremerton Lodging Tax Committee to sponsor a tournament at Lions Park, Bremerton.
-
Participated in Bremerton’s Armed Forces Day Parade delighting the crowds and winning the Grand Marshal's Award.
-
WPC is now in their fourth year of hosting the Bremerton Blackberry Blast Pickleball Tournament at Lions Park.
The WPC board continues to work with various Kitsap County agencies and businesses in the area to create more playing opportunities for all to enjoy.

WPC Offers Pickleball Lessons to Our Local Servicemen and Servicewomen and their families

WPC is proud to share that five of your fellow Westsound Pickleball volunteers, James “JayDee” Drannan, Deb North, Barney Bernhard, Rolland Perry, and Gary North, taught a two-hour pickleball class to 40+ active and retired military personnel on Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor. Feedback from the base leadership was excellent, with Bangor requesting weekly pickleball training sessions from our club. A special shout out to our two guest teachers, Mike Bowen and Chris Posis, who showed up to attend training but, due to the overwhelming response, were pressed into becoming trainers! Great job, everyone.
